Weleda Salt Toothpaste
This fluoride-free, sea-salt-based toothpaste uses gentle mineral cleansers and natural herbal extracts (myrrh, ratanhia, chestnut bark) to clean teeth, tone gums, and refresh breath — all without surfactants, synthetic preservatives, or artificial colours.
Ingredients (sample):
Water (Aqua); Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda); Silica; Sea Salt (Maris Sal); Glycerin; Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil; Prunus Spinosa Fruit Juice; Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil; Commiphora Myrrha Resin Extract; Aesculus Hippocastanum (Horse Chestnut) Bark Extract; Krameria Triandra Root Extract; Alcohol; Esculin; Aroma; Limonene; Linalool.
What I like:
Certified natural by NaTrue (the “NATRUE” certification is listed) — a strong indicator of clean/botanical focus.
Fluoride-free and uses sea salt + baking soda to help clean and maintain oral health without synthetic additives.
Uses herbal extracts (myrrh, ratanhia root, horse chestnut bark) known for gum support and natural oral-care traditions.
No mineral oil/petrolatum glaringly present, aligning well with your “avoid petroleum-derived ingredients” preference.
EWG Hazard rating is a 1.
Things to keep in mind:
The texture and taste are different from conventional foaming toothpaste — it foams little and has a salty/minty flavor that may take getting used to.
Contains essential oil components (peppermint oil, aroma which may include limonene/linalool) — if you are very fragrance-sensitive or pregnant/breastfeeding and avoiding essential oils, patch testing or choosing a simpler flavor may help.
Because of its more natural, abrasive-mineral profile, it may feel slightly different/bolder than a mild, conventional toothpaste for very sensitive teeth or gums.
