Things to Keep in Mind

  • EWG Rating: 4 — This rating comes from adding the formula to the EWG Analyzer. The analyzer flags ingredients like camphor, algae extracts, and specific aromatic components based on generalized or oral-exposure toxicity models, not typical cosmetic use.

  • The essential oils may feel stimulating for very sensitive skin types or those who prefer fragrance-free skincare.

Sensitive Skin & Pregnancy Considerations

This formula contains essential oils, including camphor leaf extract, frankincense, bitter orange leaf and twig extract, vetiver, rose, jasmine, fir oil, and aromatic components like linalool, citronellol, geraniol, citral, benzyl alcohol, and limonene. Comfort levels during pregnancy and breastfeeding can vary, especially if your skin is feeling more sensitive.

Essential oils, like many natural ingredients, can sometimes carry trace impurities from farming and processing, so I prioritize brands that test for purity and keep formulas as simple as possible. In this blend, citrus-family components (such as bitter orange–derived aromatics) and fragrance allergens, including linalool, citronellol, geraniol, citral, limonene, and benzyl alcohol, are most likely to act as skin sensitizers or irritants, especially for very reactive or compromised skin. Camphor leaf extract is also rated more conservatively by resources like EWG, primarily based on higher-dose or internal-use data; in a facial oil, it’s present at much lower levels, but I still like to flag it for extra-sensitive or pregnancy/postpartum skin.

If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding and know you're sensitive to fragrance or essential oils, patch-test first and discontinue use if you notice any redness, stinging, or irritation.
