When I’m choosing disposable tableware, I avoid plastics and chemical coatings that can transfer into food — including BPA, BPS, phthalates, and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). I also avoid paper tableware that relies on plastic or chemical linings. I look for plant-based materials where the food-contact surface does not require added chemical finishes.
