Primally Pure Almond + Vanilla Body Butter

This is a rich, decadent body butter made with grass-fed tallow and nourishing botanical butters, scented with warm almond and vanilla. It’s the kind of product I reach for when skin needs serious comfort and moisture, especially in colder months or anytime you’re feeling dry and depleted.

Ingredients

Organic Tallow from Grass-Fed Cows; Organic Coconut Oil; Organic Mango Butter; Organic Shea Butter; Organic Olive Oil; Organic Sweet Almond Oil; Organic Arrowroot Powder; Organic Almond Extract; Unrefined Beeswax; Vanilla Absolute; Organic Rosemary Extract; Non-GMO Vitamin E.

What I Like

I like that this uses grass-fed tallow as the base. It’s naturally rich and incredibly supportive for the skin barrier, which is why it tends to work so well for dry, rough, or compromised skin.

The butter and oil blend (coconut, mango, shea, olive, sweet almond) gives a deeply nourishing feel that lasts, not the kind that disappears five minutes later.

The ingredient list is transparent and avoids many common fillers and petroleum-derived ingredients people try to avoid in body care.

The almond + vanilla scent feels warm and cozy without being overly perfumey, which makes it feel like a little ritual.

EWG rating (EWG analyzer): 2.

Things to Keep in Mind

This is a thicker, richer formula than a lightweight lotion. If you’re in a hot/humid climate or don’t love a more occlusive feel, you may prefer using it only on dry areas (hands, elbows, legs) or as a night product.

It contains vanilla absolute and almond extract, which are natural fragrance components. If you’re very fragrance-sensitive, patch testing is a good idea.

It contains sweet almond oil and almond extract. If you have a nut allergy or strong sensitivity to nuts, this may not be the best fit.

Because it contains tallow and beeswax, it’s not vegan.

Sensitive Skin & Pregnancy Considerations

If your skin is reactive, patch test first and start with a small area before applying more broadly.

Essential oil transparency: even when a product uses natural ароматics like vanilla absolute (and not synthetic fragrance), botanical scent components can carry trace contaminants depending on sourcing and processing. I prioritize brands that test for purity and take steps to minimize contaminants and impurities whenever possible.
