Norpro Stainless Steel Dough and Chopping Scraper
Important note on kitchen tools
When I choose kitchen tools, I avoid plastics and polymer coatings on the parts that touch food, especially for prep tasks like dough work, chopping, or scraping. I also avoid finishes or paints that can wear, chip, or hide unknown additives. I look for simple, stable materials like stainless steel or titanium that are inert and don’t rely on chemical treatments to perform.
Materials
This scraper/chopper is made from stainless steel throughout. The cutting edge and food-contact surfaces are all metal with no plastic or coated finishes, so you’re working with a material that resists corrosion and doesn’t leach additives into your dough or chopped ingredients.
What I like
I like that this tool uses stainless steel where food touches, without plastic blades or hidden coatings. Stainless steel is non-reactive and doesn’t absorb odors or stains the way plastic can. The scraper edge works well for dividing dough and for chopping soft herbs or vegetables right on your prep surface. It also helps clean flour, bits of chopped food, or sticky dough off your board.
Things to keep in mind
Because it’s metal, it’s best paired with prep boards that aren’t easily scratched by metal edges.
