Meliora Laundry Powder Detergent
Important note on laundry detergents
Laundry detergent is one of the products I’m most mindful about because it sits on fabric that touches your skin all day — towels, sheets, underwear, socks, and kids’ clothes. A lot of conventional detergents rely on fragrance, brighteners, or “boosted” additives to signal clean, but those extras can linger on fabric and don’t always support sensitive skin.
What I avoid in laundry detergents
In this category, I avoid undisclosed or toxic fragrance blends, optical brighteners, harsh surfactants like SLS/SLES, ethoxylated ingredients (such as PEGs or ingredients ending in “-eth”), quaternary ammonium compounds (quats), methylisothiazolinone (MIT), and formaldehyde-releasing preservative systems. I also skip solvent-type additives and fillers that don’t contribute to actual cleaning and can leave fabrics feeling coated.
Product description
Meliora Laundry Powder Detergent is a simple powder detergent made with baking soda, washing soda, and vegetable soap made from organic coconut oil. It’s meant to clean everyday loads without relying on fragrance systems, brighteners, or heavy detergent additives.
I like powder detergents like this because they’re easy to control. You can adjust the amount based on your load size and your water, which helps avoid that “too much detergent” buildup that can happen over time.
What I like
I like how minimal and transparent the ingredient approach is.
It’s a solid option for routine laundry when you want clothes to come out clean without lingering detergent smell.
Because it’s concentrated, you typically don’t need much, which also helps keep fabrics from feeling coated.
Things to keep in mind
If you have hard water, you may need to adjust your routine (amount used, warm water, an extra rinse) to keep things rinsing clean.
If you choose a scented version, it’s typically scented with essential oils, so sensitivities are something to consider.
