MamaSuds Hand Soap
Important note on hand soaps
Hand soap is something most of us use all day, so I want it to rinse clean and stay simple. I look for transparent ingredient lists and true cleansing ingredients, not a formula built around extra foam, fragrance, or “antibacterial” claims.
What I avoid in hand soaps
For this category, I avoid undisclosed or toxic fragrance blends, parabens, SLS/SLES, ethoxylated ingredients (like PEGs, polysorbate 20, or ingredients ending in “-eth”), cocamidopropyl betaine (a common sensitizer), MIT/MCI preservatives, quats like benzalkonium chloride, and dimethicone. I prefer real soap or straightforward cleansers that don’t leave hands feeling stripped or coated.
Product description
MamaSuds Hand Soap is a liquid castile hand soap made with distilled water and potassium olivate (saponified olive oil). It’s available unscented or with pure lemon essential oil. The ingredient list is exactly what I like to see for handwashing: short, traceable, and not padded with foaming boosters or preservative systems that don’t belong in a daily-use soap.
If you want a truly fragrance-free option, the unscented version keeps it as minimal as it gets.
Certifications
• Leaping Bunny Certified (brand stated)
• Vegan (brand stated)
What I like
I like how minimal the formula is and that the ingredients are fully disclosed.
It’s a true soap-based option without the common irritants I try to avoid in hand soaps.
The unscented option is ideal for sensitive households.
Things to keep in mind
Castile soap can feel different than conventional high-foam hand soaps. It still cleans well, but it won’t have that detergent-style lather.
If you choose the lemon option, it’s scented with essential oil, so sensitivities are something to consider.
