MakeMake Organics Organic Cotton Comforter

Important note on comforters

A comforter is one of those pieces that’s in close contact with skin for hours at a time, and it’s also something you wash and dry regularly. I like comforters made from natural fibers with clear material details, without relying on extra treatments to add “performance.”

What I avoid in bedding and comforters

When I’m choosing bedding, I avoid synthetic fabrics and blends, along with wrinkle-resistant, stain-resistant, or antimicrobial finishes. I also avoid flame-retardant treatments, which are sometimes added to bedding to meet flammability standards. These have included chemicals like PBDEs in the past, and I prefer bedding that meets safety needs through fiber choice and construction rather than added treatments. I’m also mindful of easy-care finishes that can rely on formaldehyde-based resins, and I look for clear dye and finishing information.

Product description

This MakeMake Organics comforter is made with an organic cotton shell and organic cotton infill, with a tufted, medium-padded design. It’s reversible with two prints, which makes it easy to rotate the look without changing the feel of the bedding. The brand positions it as an everyday comforter for kids’ rooms that’s meant to be used, washed, and loved over time.

What I like

I like that the materials are clearly disclosed and that it’s organic cotton inside and out. I also like that it’s tufted and reversible, which feels practical for kids’ spaces and everyday use.

Things to keep in mind

Because this is cotton fill (not a synthetic “down alternative”), it can feel more substantial and it may take a bit longer to dry thoroughly. Following gentle wash care and drying on low heat helps, and it’s worth making sure it’s fully dry before putting it back on the bed.
