GroundLuxe New Zealand Wool Dryer Balls (Unscented)
Important note on dryer sheets
Dryer sheets are designed to make laundry feel softer by depositing a softening layer on fabric, and that layer typically includes added fragrance. The problem is that this residue doesn’t just stay in the dryer. It transfers onto clothes, towels, bedding, and gets released into the air while the dryer runs. For people with sensitive skin, allergies, asthma, migraines, or fragrance sensitivities, that combo can be a real trigger.
This is why I prefer skipping dryer sheets altogether and using dryer balls instead. You still get a softer feel and less static, but without coating your fabrics.
What I avoid in fabric softening products
In this category, I avoid dryer sheets and fabric softeners that rely on undisclosed or toxic fragrance blends and quaternary ammonium compounds (quats). I also avoid anything designed to leave a film on fabric to create softness, because that buildup can reduce towel absorbency, trap odors over time, and increase skin contact with ingredients that don’t need to be there.
Product description
GroundLuxe Wool Dryer Balls are reusable, unscented dryer balls made from wool. They work by creating space between items in the dryer and keeping laundry tumbling more efficiently, which helps reduce static and soften fabrics naturally without fragrance or chemical softeners.
This is a simple swap if you want to move away from dryer sheets, especially for towels, sheets, baby clothes, and anything that sits against skin for long periods of time.
What I like
I like that they’re unscented and don’t rely on fragrance to make laundry feel fresh.
They soften through movement and airflow rather than leaving residue behind.
They’re reusable, helping reduce waste and simplify your laundry routine.
Things to keep in mind
If you’re used to fabric softener or dryer sheets, it may take a few loads for fabrics to lose that coated feel and return to a cleaner rinse.
For best results, use multiple dryer balls in medium to large loads so they can do their job.
