Earthing Universal Mat Kit
Important note on category
This indoor grounding (earthing) tool creates a conductive connection between your body and the earth’s ground. It’s a manufactured wellness device, so it falls into the compromise category for me. In a highly processed world, I’m intentional about which wellness tools I use, focusing on safety, materials, and how they’re used.
What I avoid / What I look for
I avoid grounding products with vague material descriptions, unclear safety guidance, or added treatments that don’t serve a purpose. I look for clearly disclosed materials, a conductive layer designed specifically for grounding, and instructions that emphasize proper outlet grounding and care so the product works as intended.
Product description
The Earthing Universal Mat Kit is a flexible grounding mat designed for use while resting, working, or winding down. It connects to the ground port of a properly grounded wall outlet and provides a conductive surface that allows your body to share the earth’s electrical ground potential, similar to being barefoot outdoors.
The top conductive layer is made from a proprietary carbon-based grounding material developed over decades of research. Carbon is naturally conductive and is used here to support efficient grounding contact. The mat is backed with a soft fabric layer made from a cotton and polyester blend that is latex-free for the backing itself. Adjustable mat straps help keep the mat securely in place.
Before packaging, the mat undergoes an off-gassing process so it’s ready to use out of the box.
Materials
Conductive carbon-based grounding layer
Cotton/polyester fabric backing (latex-free)
Elastic straps with latex yarn (used only in the straps)
What I like
I like that the materials are clearly explained and purpose-driven. The grounding layer is designed specifically for conductivity rather than being a coated or decorative surface, and the backing is soft and practical for everyday use. For people who connect with grounding practices, this offers an indoor option that doesn’t involve ingesting anything or adding products to the body.
Many people associate grounding with feeling calmer, more relaxed, and more settled, especially when used during quiet routines like rest, desk work, or bedtime. I view this as supportive and very individual rather than guaranteed.
Things to keep in mind
Proper use matters for both safety and function.
How to use it correctly:
The mat must be plugged into the grounding port of a properly grounded outlet to work as intended. If an outlet isn’t grounded, the mat won’t function correctly.
Direct skin contact is needed for grounding. Many people use it under bare feet or with another area of skin resting on the surface.
Start with shorter sessions and see how your body responds. Experiences vary, and subtle responses are common.
Care and cleaning:
Wipe the mat gently with soap and water using a damp cloth or sponge.
Do not spray with household cleaners, furniture polish, or products like Armor All®, as these can interfere with conductivity. Air dry only. Do not place the mat in the dryer.
