Earth Mama Wild Peppermint Hand & Body Wash
Important note on hand soaps
Hand soap is something I use constantly, so I want it to rinse clean and feel comfortable on skin without relying on harsh foaming agents or antibacterial additives. I also pay close attention to how a product is scented, because vague fragrance labeling is where a lot of unnecessary irritants hide.
What I avoid in hand soaps
In this category, I avoid undisclosed or toxic fragrance blends, parabens, SLS/SLES, ethoxylated ingredients (like PEGs, polysorbate 20, or ingredients ending in “-eth”), cocamidopropyl betaine when possible, methylisothiazolinone and methylchloroisothiazolinone (MIT/MCI), quats like benzalkonium chloride, and dimethicone. These ingredients are often used to boost foam or shelf life, but they aren’t necessary for effective handwashing.
Product description
Earth Mama Wild Peppermint Hand & Body Wash is a foaming, castile-style soap made with organic oils and peppermint essential oil for a crisp, energizing scent. It’s designed to work for both handwashing and body cleansing, using a straightforward soap base rather than detergent-style surfactants.
This is a good option if you like a fresh, minty scent and want a soap that cleans well without relying on fragrance blends or harsh additives.
Certifications
• Oregon Tilth Certified Organic (brand stated)
• Leaping Bunny Certified (brand stated)
What I like
I like that the scent comes from peppermint essential oil, not an undisclosed fragrance blend.
The foaming format makes it easy to use and quick to rinse.
It’s versatile enough to use on hands and body, which helps simplify what I keep at the sink and in the shower.
Things to keep in mind
Peppermint is naturally strong. If you’re sensitive to essential oils, this may feel too intense for frequent use.
It’s not a tear-free formula, so extra care around eyes is important.
