California Baby Calendula Cream

Important note on kid-friendly creams and moisturizers

When I’m choosing a cream for kids (and for the whole family), I look for formulas that are clearly labeled and supportive for dry or sensitive skin without relying on heavy synthetic fillers or vague scent blends. With leave-on products especially, I like knowing exactly what’s in the formula so families can decide what fits best for their skin and preferences.

What I avoid in creams and moisturizers

In this category, I personally choose to avoid products with undisclosed fragrance blends or vague “fragrance/parfum” labeling, phenoxyethanol in baby products, parabens, formaldehyde-releasing preservatives, petroleum-derived ingredients like mineral oil, petrolatum, dimethicone, and propylene glycol, and antibacterial additives such as triclosan, triclocarban, or benzalkonium chloride.

Product description

California Baby Calendula Cream is a rich, plant-based moisturizer made with calendula infusion and extract, skin-conditioning emollients, and aloe. It’s designed to support dry, sensitive skin and has a light botanical scent from lavender and clary sage essential oils. The texture is more like a true cream rather than a thin lotion, making it a good option when skin needs extra moisture support.

Ingredients

Water and calendula officinalis flowers (calendula flower) infusion, calendula officinalis extract (calendula) in vegetable glycerin, caprylic/capric triglyceride, glyceryl stearate, cetearyl alcohol, glyceryl caprylate, cetyl alcohol, canola oil, safflower seed oil polyglyceryl-4 esters, levulinic acid, ocimum basilicum (basil) leaf extract, pimpinella anisum (anise) seed extract, lavandula angustifolia (French lavender), salvia sclarea (clary sage), stearic acid, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract, phytic acid (rice origin), xanthan gum USP, aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice.

What I like

I like that it’s a plant-based calendula cream with a clearly listed ingredient deck, supportive emollients, and no synthetic fragrance labeling.

Things to keep in mind

This formula includes botanicals and essential oils (lavender and clary sage), which can be a nice fit for some families and not ideal for others, depending on sensitivities. Botanicals such as calendula and aloe are commonly used topically and are generally well tolerated; however, individual skin responses can vary, so patch testing may be helpful if skin is highly reactive. Because it’s a richer cream, a small amount usually goes a long way.
