Sky Organics Organic Castor Oil
Important note on category
Castor oil is a single-ingredient botanical oil used externally for targeted conditioning and body care. In a low-tox routine, I pay close attention to sourcing, processing method, and overall purity.
What I avoid / What I look for
I avoid added fragrance, fillers, preservatives, and solvent-extracted oils. I look for organic certification and cold-pressed processing.
Product description
Sky Organics Organic Castor Oil is a one-ingredient oil made from castor seeds and cold-pressed to preserve its natural fatty acid profile. Castor oil has a naturally thick, viscous texture, which makes it well suited for applications where you want the oil to stay in place rather than absorb quickly. Because it’s concentrated, a small amount goes a long way.
Ingredients
Organic Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil
Certifications
USDA Certified Organic
Cold-pressed
Hexane-free
What I like
I like this oil for both skin and body care when I want something simple and intentional. I use it on my scalp or hair ends to support moisture and reduce dryness, and on skin for dry patches and cuticles.
I also personally use castor oil externally as an overnight wrap when I’m feeling bloated, constipated, or dealing with inflammation. I apply it topically to the abdomen or joints and let it sit overnight as part of my routine. For me, this feels supportive and grounding, especially during periods when my body needs extra care.
The thicker texture works well for these uses because it stays where it’s applied rather than spreading or evaporating quickly.
Things to keep in mind
Castor oil is naturally thick and can feel heavy if overapplied, so a little goes a long way. Patch testing is a good idea if you’re new to castor oil or have sensitive skin. When using it overnight or on larger areas, I recommend wearing older clothing or placing a towel over the area, as castor oil can stain fabrics.
