Better Life Dish Soap, Unscented

Important note on dish soap

Dish soap is one of those daily-use products that ends up on the things you eat and drink from, and it also touches your skin every time you wash dishes. That’s why I keep my standards higher here than I do for a random surface spray.

What I avoid in dish soap

For this category, I avoid undisclosed or toxic fragrance blends, antibacterial additives (like triclosan-style ingredients), quaternary ammonium compounds (quats), methylisothiazolinone (MIT), dimethicone, and solvent-type ingredients that don’t belong in a hand-washing product. I’m looking for formulas that clean with straightforward surfactants, rinse well, and don’t leave a strong smell behind.

Product description

Better Life Dish Soap (Unscented) is a fragrance-free dishwashing liquid made with plant-derived surfactants and a simple ingredient list. It uses a blend of cleansing agents plus vegetable glycerin, aloe, and vitamin E to support a more comfortable wash when you’re doing dishes often.

Ingredients: purified water, potassium cocoate, lauryl glucoside, caprylyl/capryl glucoside, decyl glucoside, vegetable glycerin, disodium cocoglucoside citrate, aloe barbadensis leaf extract, tocopherol (vitamin E).

What I like

I like that this is truly unscented, so dishes don’t come out smelling like detergent.

The surfactant blend is straightforward and doesn’t rely on antibacterial additives or heavy fragrance to feel “clean.”

I also like the addition of aloe and vitamin E for people who wash dishes a lot and want something that feels a little less drying.

Things to keep in mind

Because it’s unscented, it won’t cover up strong food odors the way fragranced soaps can. It’s more of a clean-rinse approach.

If you have very hard water, you may need a bit more product or a slightly warmer rinse to cut through heavier grease.
