Badger Baby Foaming Shampoo & Wash

Important note on kid-friendly shampoos and body washes

When I’m choosing shampoo and body wash for kids (and for the whole family), I look for formulas that cleanse gently and are clearly labeled. For products used frequently, especially on sensitive skin, I prefer options that keep the ingredient list simple and rely on straightforward cleansing systems rather than harsh detergents or vague scent blends.

What I avoid in shampoos and body washes

In this category, I avoid products with undisclosed fragrance blends or vague “fragrance/parfum” labeling, harsh surfactants like SLS and SLES, ethoxylated ingredients (PEGs and “-eth” ingredients), parabens, formaldehyde-releasing preservatives, antibacterial additives, preservatives like methylisothiazolinone and methylchloroisothiazolinone (MIT/MCI), and petroleum-derived ingredients I don’t use in my low-tox swaps, including dimethicone and propylene glycol. I also pay attention to how products are scented and avoid fragrance-related plasticizers that may be listed individually on labels, such as diethyl phthalate (DEP) or dibutyl phthalate (DBP). Clear ingredient disclosure is important to me.

What I like

I like that the ingredient list is short and easy to understand.

I like that it’s soap-based and avoids detergent-style foaming agents.

I like that the scent comes from clearly listed botanical ingredients rather than a vague fragrance blend.

Things to keep in mind

Soap-based washes aren’t tear-free, so I avoid using this directly near the eyes.

Even when a product uses botanical or essential oil components for scent, sensitivities can still happen. Essential oils can also carry trace contaminants depending on sourcing and processing, so I prioritize brands that test for purity and minimize contaminants.
