Viking 3-Ply Oval Roasting Pan (8.5 Quart) with Metal Lid and Rack
Important Note on Roasting Pans
When I’m choosing cookware, I avoid Teflon and other nonstick coatings and I avoid aluminum as a food-contact surface. I also pay attention to Proposition 65 warnings and factor those into my decision-making.
For roasting pans, I prefer stainless steel where food is actually touching. I’m also careful about any coated racks or “nonstick” roasting surfaces, since that’s where your drippings and food sit for long periods of time.
Product Description
This Viking oval roaster is a stainless steel roasting pan with a lid and a rack, designed for larger meals like turkey, chicken, and roasts. The interior cooking surface is stainless steel, and it’s built with a layered construction to help distribute heat more evenly during cooking.
The lid can be used to roast covered, and the rack lifts food up so heat can circulate and drippings can fall below.
What I Like
I like that this is stainless steel cookware without a nonstick coating on the cooking surface.
I also like that it includes a metal rack, which is helpful for roasting because it keeps food elevated and can improve airflow and browning.
For holiday cooking or bigger meals, this feels like a solid, long-term piece that avoids the typical roasting pan issue of coated interiors.
Things to Keep in Mind
This is a 3-ply design with an aluminum core sandwiched between stainless layers. Aluminum is not the cooking surface here, but I still like to call it out so you can choose what you’re comfortable with.
This is a larger, heavier pan, so storage can be a consideration.
