Welcome to Feather & Nest’s Low-Tox Marketplace
Simplifying Healthier, More Intentional Living
Feather & Nest was created to make healthier, more intentional choices feel clearer and more approachable. Every product in this marketplace is one I personally use or have carefully vetted, with a focus on ingredient transparency, materials, and how the product is actually used in real life.
This space isn’t about extremes or perfection. It’s about learning, being more mindful, and making choices that feel supportive—without being overwhelmed.
We live in a world where most products are processed and manufactured, and trace contaminants can happen. My focus is on helping reduce unnecessary exposure where it matters most, especially with the products we use regularly.
What Healthy, Low-Tox Living Means
Healthy living is about balance. It’s supporting your body and home in ways that feel sustainable — nourishing food, movement, rest, stress support, and an environment that feels calmer and more intentional.
Low-tox living fits into that bigger picture. It focuses on reducing repeated exposure to ingredients and materials commonly associated with irritation, hormone disruption, or unnecessary chemical load — especially through everyday use.
This does not mean eliminating every toxin. That isn’t realistic. Even thoughtfully formulated products are still manufactured, and no option is completely risk-free. The goal is to make better, more informed choices where it makes sense.
My approach continues to evolve as I learn, research, and refine what I personally use and recommend.
My Marketplace Standards
When selecting products for Feather & Nest, I generally exclude or avoid those containing:
Parabens
BHT or BHA
Phthalates, including diethyl phthalate (DEP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP), and diethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP)
Bisphenols (BPA, BPS, BPF)
Formaldehyde-releasing preservatives, including bronopol (2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,3-diol), DMDM hydantoin, diazolidinyl urea, imidazolidinyl urea, quaternium-15, and sodium hydroxymethylglycinate
Methylisothiazolinone (MI) and methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCI)
Polyethylene glycol (PEG) compounds
Ethoxylated ingredients, including SLES or ingredients ending in “-eth,” due to potential 1,4-dioxane contamination
Petroleum-based ingredients such as petrolatum, paraffin oil, and paraffin wax
Undisclosed fragrance blends and fragrance ingredients I consider of greater concern
Artificial colors and dyes
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), commonly known as Teflon, and related fluoropolymer coatings
Toxic flame retardants, where relevant to the product category
When relevant, I also consider broader quality and contamination factors, including mold risk, heavy metals, harsh preservatives, and other avoidable additives that can increase overall chemical exposure.
Context Matters
I’m realistic about the limitations of today’s products. Some categories are highly processed, and sometimes the goal is to make the best available choice with what exists on the market.
I don’t evaluate every product category the same way. Items used daily, worn on the skin, or that come into contact with food tend to matter more to me than products such as gym equipment.
For categories that inherently involve more processed materials — such as workout gear, wellness tools, and certain household items — I prioritize transparency, clear material disclosure, and, where possible, fewer unnecessary coatings or treatments.
For supplements, ingredient lists alone aren’t enough. I look for brands that share details on third-party testing, sourcing, and processing.
The Goal
This marketplace exists to support informed, thoughtful choices — not pressure or fear. I share what I use, what I look for, and what I’ve learned so you can decide what feels right for your home, your body, and your season of life.
Lower-tox living is not about doing everything “right.” It’s about making choices that feel supportive, realistic, and aligned with your values.
