SIMAX Glassware Classic Borosilicate Glass Loaf Dish (1.5 Quart)
Important Note on Bakeware
When I’m choosing bakeware, I avoid Teflon and other nonstick coatings, aluminum as a direct food-contact surface, heavy metals like lead and cadmium, and plastic-based materials such as Tritan—especially when heat is involved. I prefer simple, inert materials where there’s no chemical performance layer between my food and the dish.
Product Description
This SIMAX loaf dish is made from borosilicate glass and sized for classic loaf recipes like banana bread, meatloaf, or baked oats. Because it’s glass, the baking surface is naturally non-porous and uncoated, meaning food bakes directly on glass rather than on a nonstick finish.
What I Like
I like that borosilicate glass keeps things very straightforward. There’s no nonstick coating, no forever-chemical style finish, and no plastic coming into contact with hot food. It’s an easy, low-tox option because the material choice is simple and predictable.
Things to Keep in Mind
Glass can crack if exposed to extreme or sudden temperature changes, so I avoid moving it directly from the freezer to a hot oven or placing a hot dish on a cold or wet surface. Glass also isn’t naturally nonstick, so for stickier recipes you may want to use parchment paper or a light coating of oil.
