Primally Pure Clarifying Mask

This rinse-off mask is made for skin that feels congested, oily, or in need of a deeper reset. It combines raw honey and clay with marula oil to help balance the finish, plus botanical support from white willow bark and turmeric. The scent comes from a citrus and neroli essential oil blend with manuka, and the formula also includes probiotic ferments to support a more balanced feel after rinsing.

What I Like

  • EWG rating: 3, based on entering the ingredient list into the EWG Skin Deep Analyzer.

  • I like the ingredient direction for congested skin. Clay, white willow bark, and turmeric are a solid combo when you want skin to feel clearer and more balanced.

  • Honey helps keep the finish from feeling overly dry, which can be an issue with clarifying masks.

  • This is a nice option when skin feels dull or backed up, and you want that “freshly cleaned” look after rinsing.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • This contains multiple essential oils (orange, lemon, neroli, manuka). If you are very sensitive or fragrance-reactive, this may feel too stimulating, even though it’s rinse-off.

  • White willow bark is a natural source of salicylate-like compounds. Skin that is already over-exfoliated or barrier-impaired may be more prone to stinging or dryness with this type of ingredient.

  • EWG rating note: The score of 3 is largely driven by colloidal silver and rosemary extract. Colloidal silver is often flagged due to limited long-term data, and rosemary can be flagged due to irritation potential for sensitive skin. These concerns are generally more relevant to repeated exposure patterns and individual sensitivity than to one-time rinse-off use.

Sensitive Skin & Pregnancy Considerations

This mask does not include retinoids, but it does include several essential oils and white willow bark, which may be more likely to irritate very sensitive, rosacea-prone, or eczema-prone skin. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding and your skin is more reactive, you may prefer a simpler mask without essential oils or exfoliating botanicals. Patch testing is a reasonable step before full-face use, especially during times of hormonal sensitivity.

Essential oil transparency note: Essential oils can carry trace contaminants depending on sourcing and processing. Feather & Nest prioritizes brands that emphasize ingredient integrity, testing, and responsible sourcing to help minimize unwanted impurities.
