Primally Pure Almond + Vanilla Body Wash
This creamy, low-sudsing body cleanser gently cleanses while leaving skin soft and nourished. I like it for anyone who wants a simpler, more skin-supportive wash that doesn’t feel overly stripping.
Ingredients
Water; Organic Fractionated Coconut Oil; Organic and Fair-Trade Coconut Oil; Potassium Hydroxide; Organic Aloe Vera Juice; Organic Olive Oil; Glycerin; Vanilla Extract; Organic Almond Extract; Organic Sunflower Oil; Organic Shea Butter; Tonka Bean Essential Oil; Organic Rosemary Extract; Non-GMO Vitamin E.
What I Like
I like that this is built around nourishing oils and skin-supportive ingredients like coconut oil, aloe, olive oil, sunflower oil, and shea butter, which can help skin feel comfortable after rinsing.
The low-suds style is a plus if you’re trying to support your skin barrier and avoid that tight, squeaky-clean feeling that some body washes leave behind.
The almond + vanilla scent profile feels warm and cozy without relying on synthetic fragrance blends.
EWG rating (EWG analyzer): 3.
Things to Keep in Mind
The EWG score is influenced by potassium hydroxide. In soap-style formulas, potassium hydroxide is used to turn oils into a cleansing base (saponification). It can be flagged in rating systems because it’s caustic in its raw form, but in a finished, properly formulated wash, it’s there for the chemistry of cleansing rather than acting as a harsh “active” on the skin.
This is a low-suds cleanser, so it won’t feel like a conventional foaming body wash. If you’re used to lots of lather, it can take a couple of washes to adjust expectations.
It contains tonka bean essential oil. If you’re fragrance-sensitive, this is something to keep in mind and you may want to patch test first.
Sensitive Skin & Pregnancy Considerations
If you have very reactive or easily irritated skin, I recommend patch testing first and starting with a small amount. If you’re sensitive to scent, this may be better as an occasional treat versus an everyday body wash.
Essential oil transparency: essential oils can carry trace contaminants depending on sourcing and processing. I prioritize brands that test for purity and take steps to minimize contaminants and impurities whenever possible.
