Lodge Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet & Griddle Bundle

Important Note on Cookware

When I’m choosing cookware, I avoid Teflon and other nonstick coatings, aluminum, and materials that rely on chemical finishes to perform. I also pay attention to California Proposition 65 warnings and factor those into my decision-making.

Cast iron is one of the few cookware materials that consistently fits my low-tox criteria because it’s a single-material surface that doesn’t rely on coatings to function.

Product Description

This Lodge bundle includes a classic cast-iron skillet and a cast-iron griddle. Both pieces come pre-seasoned with vegetable oil and are designed to be used on the stovetop, in the oven, on a grill, or over a campfire.

Because these are bare cast iron surfaces, your food cooks directly on the iron rather than a nonstick or coated finish. With proper care, cast iron builds its seasoning over time and performs well for searing, frying, sautéing, and more.

What I Like

I like that both the skillet and griddle are bare cast iron and pre-seasoned with oil instead of relying on a nonstick coating. Cast iron holds heat well and creates great texture on foods like vegetables, meats, and egg dishes without needing chemical finishes.

I also appreciate that this is a bundle — you get both a skillet and a griddle, which increases versatility in the kitchen without adding unnecessary materials.

Things to Keep in Mind

Cast iron requires a bit of maintenance to keep the seasoning in good condition. It’s best when hand-washed, thoroughly dried, and lightly oiled after cleaning.

Cooking highly acidic foods frequently can wear down the seasoning more quickly, so you may need to re-season occasionally.
