What I like:
EWG Rating: 1 — very low hazard
Uses plant-based waxes instead of petroleum waxes
Vegetable collagen + hydrolyzed plant protein help support stronger-looking lashes
Olive oil + horsetail extract provide conditioning and nourishment
Uses iron oxides for pigment instead of synthetic dyes
No petroleum-derived ingredients
No synthetic fragrance
Gentle enough for sensitive eyes
Designed for daily, long-term use
Things to keep in mind:
This is a natural wax-based mascara, not a waterproof formula
Plant wax formulas tend to wear off more quickly than conventional long-wear mascaras
May require a light reapplication for all-day wear
As with all mascaras, regular replacement is essential to avoid eye irritation
Pregnancy / Breastfeeding Notes:
Candelilla wax, carnauba wax, rice bran wax, olive oil, stearic acid (from cocoa), sorbitan sesquioleate, and plant proteins are all considered low risk and safe for topical cosmetic use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Horsetail extract is present at cosmetic levels and is used topically for conditioning; it is not considered a developmental or reproductive toxin when applied externally.
Propanediol and pentylene glycol are low-tox, sugar-derived humectants and preservative boosters that are considered pregnancy-compatible at regulated cosmetic concentrations.
Phenethyl alcohol is used as a preservative and is considered low risk at cosmetic levels, but at higher concentrations, it can cause eye or mucous membrane irritation, which is why it is tightly regulated in clean formulas.
This formula contains no retinoids, chemical dyes, PFAS, endocrine disruptors, or petroleum ingredients.
Because this is a mascara (not a loose powder), inhalation exposure is minimal.
As always, patch testing is recommended, especially during pregnancy and postpartum when eye sensitivity can be higher.
