Coterie The Diaper
Important note on choosing diapers
Diapers are a “best available” category for me. Most disposable diapers use similar core components, so instead of chasing perfect, I focus on reducing the biggest avoidable extras and choosing brands that are transparent about materials and testing.
What I avoid in diapers
I avoid added fragrance or parfum, scented lotions, and unnecessary dyes or heavy prints. I also avoid chlorine bleaching and look for diapers that clearly state Totally Chlorine Free pulp. If a brand won’t disclose what the diaper is made from, that’s a pass for me. I also keep PFAS on my radar, primarily when diapers are marketed as water-repellent or coated, and I prefer brands that address PFAS directly rather than relying on vague claims.
What I look for (and how I choose)
I look for fragrance-free, lotion-free diapers with minimal dyes, Totally Chlorine Free pulp, and clear material disclosure. Brands that share testing or safety screening in straightforward language — especially around PFAS — rank higher for me. From there, I choose the option that also works in real life: good fit, reliable absorbency, fewer leaks, and comfort on skin.
Product description
Coterie diapers are designed as a premium disposable option with a strong focus on ingredient transparency and performance. They are fragrance-free and lotion-free, made with Totally Chlorine-Free pulp. The design is intentionally minimal, without printed designs or added coatings beyond what’s required for function.
Like all disposable diapers, Coterie uses standard diaper components such as super absorbent polymer and plastic materials for containment and leak protection. Within that reality, they aim to reduce unnecessary additives and share clear information about how the diaper is made.
Materials overview
Coterie diapers include a core made from Totally Chlorine Free wood pulp and super absorbent polymer, along with polypropylene and polyethylene components for structure, fit, and leak protection. Elastics, adhesives, and a wetness indicator are also part of the design, which is standard across disposable diapers.
Certifications
• OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 Certified (verified)
• Totally Chlorine Free pulp (brand stated)
• Cruelty-free / not tested on animals (brand stated)
What I like
I like that Coterie is fragrance-free and lotion-free, keeps the design simple, and is transparent about materials and testing. I also appreciate that they balance cleaner formulations with strong absorbency and fit, which matter just as much in day-to-day use.
Things to keep in mind
Disposable diapers are a compromise category. Even the cleanest options still rely on plastic components and super absorbent polymers for performance. For me, this comes down to choosing the most transparent, least-additive option that still works reliably for baby and family life.
