jane Iredale Eye Pencil

A creamy, nourishing eye pencil designed for smooth definition along the lash line — formulated with botanical oils, skin-loving butters, and mineral pigments for a gentle, lower-tox alternative to conventional liners.

Ingredients:

Formulated with hydrogenated jojoba oil, caprylic/capric triglyceride, Limnanthes alba (meadowfoam) seed oil, Mangifera indica (mango) seed oil, Euphorbia cerifera (candelilla) wax, silica, Butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, Macadamia integrifolia seed oil, Copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax, tocopherol (vitamin E), ascorbyl palmitate, and may contain (±) iron oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), titanium dioxide (CI 77891), manganese violet (CI 77742), and mica.

What I like:

  • Uses nutritive botanical oils and butters — jojoba, meadowfoam, mango, macadamia — plus shea butter and natural waxes, which support the delicate eye area.

  • Mineral pigment base avoids many synthetic dyes and strong film-formers, aligning with a clean-beauty philosophy.

  • The creamy pencil format offers easy glide and control for precise lining or soft definition.

  • Vitamin E and antioxidant-rich oils help support skin health, not just add color.

  • A great option if you’re looking for a gentler, low-tox eyeliner.

  • EWG rating: 2 — low hazard range based on ingredient profile.

Things to keep in mind:

  • Because it’s oil- and wax-rich, it may smudge more easily, especially on oily lids or in humid conditions — setting can help.

  • Mineral pigments and mica can highlight texture or fine lines on very dry or mature eyelids.

Pregnancy / Breastfeeding Notes :

  • Jojoba oil, meadowfoam seed oil, mango seed oil, macadamia seed oil, shea butter, candelilla wax, and carnauba wax are all considered low risk and safe for topical use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

  • Caprylic/capric triglyceride, silica, vitamin E, and ascorbyl palmitate are widely considered pregnancy-safe cosmetic ingredients.

  • Mineral pigments (iron oxides, titanium dioxide, mica) are generally considered low risk for topical use during pregnancy. Since this is a pencil format (not a loose powder), inhalation concerns are minimal.

  • This formula avoids retinoids, chemical dyes, and hormone-disrupting preservatives.

  • As always, patch testing is recommended, especially as eye sensitivity can increase during pregnancy and postpartum.
